Hi.

Lady Deathstrike

Lady Deathstrike

Hey everyone! Back with custom #61. Keeping on my X-Men related customs, here is #2 of a series of 5. I give you, the first X-Villain in this batch of customs, Lady Deathstrike!

I made Yuriko using mostly a Spider Bitch figure as the base with accessories (shoulder pads, sleeves, hat) and arms from the old Toy Biz Lady Deathstrike. The head was a cast of the hooded Gamora from the GotG boxset and the hands were from an Anti-Venom figure. I ended up having to swap the shoulder disc of the arms of the Toy Biz Deathstrike with the disc from Spider Bitch as the arms were not compatible and ultimately caused too much stress on the arm peg, inevitably breaking it off.  Thankfully this was a pretty easy procedure and have since used it again. I love when I can learn from my unfortunate luck! lol.

For sculpt, I used Apoxie Sculpt to cover the legs and carve in the lines on the legs (so FUN!). I used it to smooth out her robotic arms from the old figure, to detail all her techno bits on her chest and hands and to sculpt the sash around her waist.  Her hair and waist sash was sculpted using Procreate so it has a little bit of flexibility to it giving her more range of motion in both her head and legs.

I continued my airbrush only method with this custom (as I did with Morph) and only used a brush for the fine details. I tried to mimic her look and colors from the animated X-Men cartoon series from the 90’s.

Overall, I’m super happy with how Lady Deathstrike turned out. She is a huge upgrade over her previous figure and a much needed update in my X-Villain collection. Unfortunately for her, she quickly became over shadowed by my next reveal… more to come!
