Hi.

I'm Matt, a Marvel-lover & customizer from Vancouver, Canada.

Morph (X-Men: Animated Series)

Hey everyone, back with another reveal. This time I’m going back to what I used to be known for (maybe still am??? I dunno), my X-Men customs. And this one in particular is super nostalgic for me because I used  one of my favourite old 5” Toybiz pre-legends figure for reference. Here is Morph from the X-Men Animated Series.

Like many children of the 90’s, my entry into the X-Men was through the Saturday morning cartoon. It is this era of the X-Men that I call “my x-men”. They have the best costumes (i know that is debatable) with all the blue and yellow, the jackets, straps, pouches. I just love everything about them. Including this made for the cartoon character named Morph. Morph

Morph was made using a Jim Lee Cyclops base figure with boots from a Utopia Era Cyclops (the boots on the bucky cap body prior to 2016-ish used to be a touch shorter), hands from Batroc, Jacket from Ultimate Capt America, X belt from the All New X-Men box set and arms from Old Man Logan. I can’t remember who the gun originally came from but it is currently being repackaged with the new Spider Man Noir figure that is currently landing in stores.

He also has 4 heads (like the old Toybiz 5” figure I used as reference). His ‘good guy’ head is a unmasked Deadpool head that has been smoothed out and sculpted over. The ‘bad guy’/sleepy’ head is a modified unmasked Electro head. Wolverine and Cyclops both come from their respective Marvel Legends figures and have been fully repainted.

For sculpting, this one wasn’t too involved. Sculpted the straps on the boots and thighs (because i hate the official marvel ones) using Apoxie Sculpt. The hair on both Morph heads took a while to get the exact look I was going for. I redid certain parts of them both multiple times. That was probably the biggest challenge of this custom for me. But in the end, they turned out pretty well I think.

Overall, I’m super happy this figure. I think my paint apps pop (first time using airbrush to for my shading on my blue and yellow spots) and while i am not 100% happy with my ‘good guy’ morph face, I am beyond thrilled with how his ‘bad guy’ alt head turned out so i will be displaying him with that one on. I’m just glad to add such a nostalgic character to my 90’s X-Men shelf.

Up next, another 4 X-Men related customs. And they’re coming real soon, so be on the lookout! More pics of Morph below in the Photo Carousel. Thanks for stopping by, cheers!
